having some problems with my 4.0 swap, when I put power to it my radio comes on as well as my left turn signal without the keys even being in the ignition, also it won't start, but thats understandable seeing how I obvoiusly messed something up

specs-
Donor vehicle 1992 ranger 4.0/5sp
swap vehicle 1991 ranger 2.9/5sp

I swapped all the wireing needed ( engine bay, computer, rear lights/fuel pump, headlights ) also used the m50d from the 4.0, so basically everything from the donor is in my truck and I am really confused on whats going on here, is there some wiring I have to deal with under the dash? , from what I've read there isn't any diffrence from the 91 to 92 but maybe I'm missing something, will be looking at my chiltons wireing diagrams to try to figure this out but if anyone has some ideas or imput it would be appriated. was hoping to have it running by tomorrow so i can drive to work on friday.

Double check all your grounds when I did mine I changed my dash too a bad ground under there made my wipers only work on high only the left turn signal came on and it didn't blink weird things happen. It sounds like what you might be experiencing back feed on these circuits some where a non keyed hot is tied into your left blinker learn your wire color and start tracing where you changed wiring, did you add any electric accessories during this change? The left turn signal might be where you wired the tail lights in.Also don't assume that the non starting is the same problem something in the clutch safety or the wiring on the tranny for neutral switch. Is the ignition switch getting power is power coming out for starting circuit?

You'll have to use the dash from the 4.0 truck.

I tried to replace my dash with one I had in my 2.9 B2. And the same thing happened to me.

I had a white-faced kit on my 89 2.9 Bronco II cluster and wanted it in my 94 4.0 Ranger. They bolt up the same but if you look at the back you will see the wires in the film go to different places.

didn't add any extras to the swap, basically everything on both vehicles was in stock condition.

I'll double check my grounds and see if the ignition is getting power

also going to check that round main plug that bolts together at the firewall at the drivers side to see if i maybe rotated it into a wrong position

i'll post later if i get it figured out or not

well I got it running , swapped my dash and every other wire I could find. BUT now when I turn my lights on my dash tweeks out, tach goes crazy as well as the voltmeter

crossed wires?, not sure whats going on I replaced everything with the 4.0 truck stuff

forgot to mention when I turn my lights on the high-beam indicator light comes on at the dash but when I turn on my high beams it turns off??

very frustrating
