I just bought an 87 Ranger and it has this nasty transmission whine, like you'd hear on old WWII Jeeps. Should I be worried? Also, I noticed a small coolant leek and looking through the tech library theirs a bad seal between the radiator tank and the core. But whats the core?

check the tranny fluid level asap, look at all the radiator hoses, water pump and heater hoses for water leaks.look at the heat/air thread on low coolant.

Not tranny

My tranny fluid is fine. I really notice the whir when I'm decelarating. It's not consistent with my RPM's, maybe check front diff. fluid?
