I've been thinking real hard about grabbing a cat-back system for my '88 2.9 Ranger. For the price, I really want to go with this one:

First and foremost, I want a second opinion. Will this be a good kit to increase sound and performance for my, once again, '88 2.9?

Second, what intermediate pipe will I need? Can I use the stock one that's already on my Ranger, or would I need to get a bigger/different one?

Any opinion/help would be much appreciated. This will be my first step into beyond stock performance for my Ranger, so I want to make sure I'm making a good choice.

Well Performance wise your not going to gain anything really. Sound wise it will be a little louder then stock. I got one for my 99' but it came with the intermediate pipe. I was debating on one for my 84 but I already got a Flowmaster for it.

I like it on my 99, Gives it a nice mellow sound without being annoying. But it had 2.5" pipe not 2". It won't give you any performance gains untill you beef up the intake and engine a bit.
