anyway to keep back of cap window clean

i am having troubles seeing out the back of cap when water and dirt get on it. is there anyway i could keep it clean? any thing you guys use to help with this?
 
If you wanted to have a little fun you could probably install the rear window wiper from a junked SUV/Hatchback. If you hook it up via a switch you install on your dash, that should work fine.

I'm sure you could even find a way to get washer fluid back there, too. I'm thinking the tank and pump assembly from a junked car. Rig it to turn on with another switch.
 
thats what i was thinking of doing. wasnt sure if anyone else thought that
glad to see someone has the imagination i do. how could i rig that up.
 
When you're running the wires from the cap to the truck, use little quick-connects. that way, if you ever want to take your cap on or put it back on, it's as simple as disconnecting the wires, not cutting them.

As far as installing the unit, it's as simple as making a hold in your cap to fit the wiper motor, then probably using pop-rivets to secure the assembly.
 
If you don't want to mess with the wiring and plumbing, you can get a wind deflector off of an older SUV or stationwagon.

The reason that all of the dirt and grime collects on the window is that when your truck is at speed, the air going over the truck creates an area w/ a negative air pressure, so it sucks the dirt right onto the window. If you notice, older SUVs and stationwagons do not have rear window wipers, but did not need them because of the wind deflector on the back edge of the roof. this channeled air down the back window which kept the dirt and grime and spray from coming back onto it. The newer SUV's in order to look streamlined, did away with the deflector and put a wiper assembly on the rear window.

I usually fill up my truck with gasoline every 2-3 days(I keep it topped) so I have access to a squeegee.

I actually liked the look of the old deflectors. I'd slap one of those on a modern SUV in a heart beat.
 
All the above good suggestions aside...here's what I did...I removed the solid glass window from the back of my cab and installed a slider window...and then pulled out the cap window so that I didn't have to worry about two sides of two panes of glass...just a suggestion...the glass pulls out really easy...but, then again, if you want to keep the dirt out of the box area the deflector would work good...

Either that or use one of those styrofoam pool floaters (the round ones) and cut it in half then stuff it in between the cap and the cab...I used one and it kept most of the grime out...but try to avoid the pink or orange ones...they attract kids...:)
