Complete bolt in. In fact, the dealership would be happy to do it for you. Just ask them.
Seriously though, with enough time, money, and fab skill anything is possible. Do it.
But yeah everyone asks this question on no one does it. Don't be one of those people. Just do it. Post a picture of the 7.3 ya got, your ranger, and a pic of the 7.3 being lowered into the empty engine bay of the ranger. Build thread.
And once you're done saying "that Ted guy is a real smartass", there's a huge hint about your answer, currently on page two of this forum. By the time you look back here, it may even return to the first page.
i did see on one of the other ranger forums a guy put one in a 2000 something ranger 2 wheel drive and it was pretty badass so it is possible but alot of work if you try it that is sweet and we really wanna see some pics if you do it......
I say give it a shot. What the hell; why not. I just read about a guy who put a DuraMax diesel in his Mustang. It would be quite a truck when you're done. If it were me, I'd likely rebody a Ranger body onto something that already has a 7.3 PSD in it.
that's what i would do as well. i swapped a broncoII body onto a chevy full sized frame rather than try to adapt all of the parts to the bII frame. (stronger axles, stranger trans, stronger t-case, trying to stuff a chevy motor between the narrow ranger frame-rails those are all of the same problems you will face)
I'd say go for it. I have an '02 PSD F350 so if you need measurements for anything just drop me a line. I'll be happy to take some pics and get clearances for you.
I must say, some of us can be smart ass's (not at the top of the list but I'm on it) at times but if you really need help, people are sure willing and able to help. Just cause it hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't be done. Good luck!
