I have a '94 Explorer and found the EGR with my eyes shut, which is needing replacing, although when looking at my gpas and friends 92 explorers i could not locate the egr, is it that theyre in a differnt spot or do they not have one?
thanks

Not all RBV's have an EGR. My '94 4.0 5-speed Ranger doesn't, for example.

DAMMIT I answered this before and my reply disappeared.
1994Explorers (and Cali starting in mid 1993) have EGR
SOME 94Cali rangers have EGR.
Your truck has EGR and an aluminum manifold
Unfortunatly for you 1994 was the LAST year of the aluminum upper intake manifold on the 4.0.
'95 up uses a plastic intake.

Is it bad that it has an aluminum manifold AllanD? and is there a benefit of the EGR cuz mines been acting up lately.....sluggish at crawling speed

No it isn't "Bad" that you have an aluminium upper intake.
It's only "Bad" that if you want EGR components they MUST come off of a 1994 because the parts from a 1995-01 4.0 OHV simply won't fit.
Personally I'd rather have the plastic upper intake.
I believe it flows better, simply cannot get heat soaked,
but uses different sensors, partly because they have their own ground wires
but mostly because EEC5 uses different sensors.

can someone tell me if my 99 4.0 engine has the same exhaust manifold with a plug even though it has a returnless fuel system. the left has a huge bolt in it were i think the egr tube would go but there is nothing on the right. my problem is i want to put this engine in my 95 with egr and want to know if i need exhaust manifolds.
