How strong is the factory step bumper hitch? This is the first truck I've owned that did not have a receiver, I just got a 5 x 8 trailer and a 650# ATV
Gonna have to rely on the bumper hitch for now, Besides with a 4 cylinder,
I don't expect much in the way of Towing power, but its all I got.
any thoughts?

thanks

Dave

That'll be fine.

I towed 2 cars and a 4 door GMC Jimmy before on a dolly with only the bumper hitch. No issues.

I ended up bending it a bit because said friend with the Jimmy was stuck (in his yard) and I had to use the bumper hitch because we couldn't use anything else. Finally bent it a little.

Upgraded to a Class III Reese and haven't looked back.

i regularly tow over 1000lbs off the bumper, no problems but i also drive and brake very very gently so i don't bend the bumper.

i don't trust it but i also don't want to spend $100 on a hitch.. for a 4 cylinder

You won't even feel that little thing back there. If you look carefully on the step part of the bumper it should have the rating marked on it. If memory serves correctly it's 3500, 350.
