View Full Version : magnetic CB antenna.

i picked up a magnetic mount cb antenna today (as that was cheaper than a cable and a hard-mount antenna) and i realized that the cable isn't long enough to put it where i had planned on, so my second choice was the cowl.

is there anything wrong with sticking it to the cowl?

not really as long as there is sufficient sheet metal all around the magnet to provide a good ground plane. i think you will be fine with it there.

I have my magnet mount on the cowl of my '84 & have had it there for years. I have it just to the inside of the am/fm antenna on the passenger side & it doesn't bother me at all.

I used to have to stop & pick it up because low branches would pull it off, I just drilled a very small hole in the front of the plastic base & used a small metal screw to screw it to the cowl.....haven't lost it yet!
