Was tool'n in the boonies today, running trails in the mountains (88 Ranger, lock-rite, 33" Baja Claws) where there were no tracks in the snow except for animals.
Driving up a trail that intersected another, couldn't get over the berm and slid sideways, STUCK!
Was able to maneuver back and forth a little bit (nothing to winch to) and then I lost all grip.
I started to air down and when I got to the right front I found on the ground a coil spring and a couple of pieces of metal and then I noticed the hub was gone...
Called a friend with my cell, lucky I had a connection where I was, he came out in his 82 Ford 150 with stock suspension and street tires following my directions and tracks, got stuck on the same berm, I was 10 yards back from the berm when my hub broke.
I was able to winch him off the berm and he was able to finally get over it and I was able to use him as a anchor and winched myself over the berm and onto the trail.
I just barely got up the mountain in 2-wheel drive to get to the trail down the other side but did, it was quite a challenge.
BTW, it was a Warren manual hub that broke, I had replaced the electric hubs a few years back.
