What does your family/friends do for the Holidays?

My extended family (Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and Grandparents) all do a White Elephant gift exchange... basically you buy the number of presents of ppl that you are bringing with, and it's usually under $20.... and you all draw numbers 1-n, n being the number of ppl attending, and then you all start picking presents in numerical order of what you drew. If you want to take a gift that someone else has already opened, you can do that, but it can only be "stolen" 3 times! So it creates a lot of competition! (Especially with Husker stuff in our family!!)

It's great to do like gag gifts as well, I'm waiting for a pink snuggie this year or something, i bet something like that will be in there...

What do you guys and gals do?

Every year after thanksgiving my grandma takes everyone out her kids, grand kids, great grand kids and we all go downtown St Paul and we all pick out a christmaas tree ornament one per year sometimes two (and im only 21) if their on the cheaper side its cool cause we label the lil price tags so i can see my first ornament all the way up till now its by far my favorite tradition and when i get to have my own tree it sure will be a fancy one.

We just have a big family get together!!! Chrismas Eve...the wife's gets together and Chrismas day.... my family gets together. I really like how that has worked out for us.

We call that a "Yankee Swap" around here. It's fun. There's an annual one I do with friends and tree ornimates for the gifts.

We all get together on Jan 6 to celebrate St Nicholas day. We have a nice big meal and exchange some small presents. I love this tradition. It's what Christmas used to be before we all got "plugged in". It's just nice to chat with family!

i go to christmas breakfast with my dads side of the family. then at 1pm go to my grandparents(moms side) for dinner. always good food.

The Saturday before Christmas my fathers side comes down and we have a get together. It was interesting to see 4 generations in the same room, Grandparents, father, me and my brother and my brothers daughter. We have a good time.

alright, so back in high school, my friend got kicked out of his house...complete mess there, he ended up moving in with me....my whole family treats him like family...he is my brother really...lol.....

so for the past 3 years now, we have made Gingerbread houses.

in the past years, we did it after a home basketball game...but now we are in college, and neither of us play, so we just stayed up late and did this one.:icon_thumby:

This one started this year. My uncle decided that he was going to read a dirty girl smut book a loud. Needless to say, I laughed my ass off the entire time.

The story behind this is he went to drop the kids off at the pool and found the book sitting on the counter in the bath room, brought it out and started reading it. He has a warped sense of humor.

^hahaha that's awesome! My wife has those around here too. I'll have to try that LOL

the only thing I know of that we do every year is to go see a movie on Christmas day. Seems like we're not hte only ones because the theaters are always busy that day, I dunno.

This year we saw Sherlock Holmes. It was good.
