Sorry if this has been asked a hundred times, I dont really have time to search for a topic similar.. anyway,

I have a 2002 ranger 2WD with a 4.0L and a 5 speed standard. I was thinking about putting in a 4.6 (non cobra) mustang engine in, I have access to a few custom motorsports shops where metal fab isnt an issue. Is this at all possble? anyone know how wiring compatablity would be? Thanks for any help.

Wiring is going to depend on which vehicle you use as a donor. There haven't been enough 4.6 swaps yet to determine which one would be the most compatable.

If you're looking at swapping in a 4.6 sohc, look at the '02-up Explorers. They had an aluminum block and weigh about 75# less than the iron block motors.

Check out the links in my sig to see what I did to put a 4.6 dohc into my '98.
