I have an 86 ranger and i was wondering if the bronco ii had interchangeable suspesion.and 86-? is the years you can switch around parts?

2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?
4 wheel drive suspension parts are exactly the same from '83 to '89 (rangers and bronco II's) and in early '90 the front axles changed to a slightly larger version that bolts in (you would just have to get your front driveshaft shortened by an inch or so), that axle was used in rangers up through '97, and the '91 through '94 explorers. You can get around shortening the front driveshaft if you swap to the transfer case and front driveshaft from the donor vehicle.

Yeah, parts between the BII and Ranger swap back and forth identically like was stated, while the first gen "X" has the same drivetrain as the 89 and up to 97 Ranger. The rear springs from the "X" are a direct fit into the BII/Ranger, giving around 1 1/2-2" lift, while the fronts do around the same. You might want to do some searching around here to see what all fits what from what year to what year. I have mixed&matched my 84 BII so much with the later model stuff that the only thing left from the factory is the body and frame.

how much lift? if you are only going for a couple inches, as said above, get the springs from an explorer and that will do it

well if explorer springs will do it then thatd be a cheap way to go then.haha.but as far as drivin it wouldnt be differnt???

you have to get an alignment after the front springs, but it should drive the same

It will ride stiffer, due to the higher springrate of the "X". The "X" is quite abit heavier, and my BII is deffinately stiffer than it used to be, but at least it doesn't drive around dragging it's butt like it has worms and you hook a trailer up without it squatting . I for one LIKE the stiffer ride for the most part. The only thing that I don't like is the that the shocks don't feel quite right, so I am going to be playing around with different shocks to try and find some that I like the feel of. Oh, the shocks from an "X" are ALOT stiffer than the BIIs' are so those won't work for me. Just try different ones til you find some that you like, I guess.
