Hi all Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem. I have a 89 Ranger 2.9l automatic trans the symptoms is when its cooler out or wet out it will start and then stall out, but if i start it and hold the rpms around 1500 for a minute it will run just fine any ideas would be welcome

I had a fuel filter cuase this once- I know, it doesn't make much sense how it ran great every other time with it clogging, but that's what it turned out to be. Check ur sparkplug wires and coil, if really old might be getting wet in damp conditions.

pull your distributor cap, run a coat of vasoline around the bottom of the cap, and re-install it. Then just for fun, while you have it out, rebuild the dis stem, pickup, module, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil. Should run like a champ unless its a fuel problem.

Seriously, try the vasoline thing, its cheap and takes 10 minutes tops, might fix your problem, might not.
