it all started when i broke a brake shoe return spring in the read end...got new springs and replaced both sides just to be safe, everything looked good. no leaks,no abnormal wear, but ever since then the rear end locks up(even tryied another set of springs also) and its getting annoying puttn the truck on the median so i dont rear end nobody...had to do it twice allready.....so any help you guys got ill try :icon_confused:

Did you bleed the brakes? Did you manually adjust your brakes so both sides just rub on the shoes to drums? Just some ideas.

between both rangers in the family i have fought this problem so many times. i noticed after creek running the one ranger when the drums are full of water they brake perfect so its probably just adjusted too far out. try rolling the adjuster back a little bit. if not idk. i think lock ups are usually caused from a lot of brake dust and rust in the drums. thats another reason i am going to the 8.8 explorer rear end. mine has rear disc
 
This can have many causes:
Out of round drums. Have them turned or replaced (easy, cheap), Out of adjustment or self adjusting mechanism not functioning right,Handbrake cable out of adjustment ,Proportioning valve out of adjustment or faulty, Incorrect cylinders installed, 17mm vs 14 mm, they look very similar but make a 40% in brake pressure!

If all else fails take it to a shop and have em make it worse for you.
 
not sure how it broke...just noticed it maken noise so i pulled the drum and got new springs for both sides and it was only on one side (passenger rear)
