airbag light??

the airbag light came on in my 04 ranger, its not a big dael but the dealer and any shops want over 100 bucks just to plug in the scanner and diagnose the possibe issue. anyone know when this light comes on does that just disable the airbags or what?
 
It means that something is wrong in the system (obviously) and then disables the system.

Make sure nothing has gotten into your seat tracks or pinched in between the seats and console. That can cause a light.

yeah, I chased an airbag light on a used 06 explorer that my dealership sold. I could never recreate the condition in the shop and it always came in with a memory code and the light out. Finally the tech hotline said to try replacing the seat sensors, when I pulled the seats up the passenger side had a lipstick thing stuck down there, pulled that out, never came back.

Not saying thats your problem, but its a good easy place to start looking, and its amazing what can set those lights off.
