I have a 85 Econoline E 150. It was givin to me as a donor vehicle for a v-8 swap. I was told it has a 351w, but I'm not sure because I don't know how to check. It has nothing under the hood that I can see that would state it. Where else can I look to know for sure? Sorry if this question is silly, but I am new to all this.

Look at the VIN number. The 5th character is the engine code. "F" would be a 302, G or H would be a 351

There is usually an emissions label on the radiator support, in plain view with the hood open, it is down towards the bottom. There should also be a label on the valve cover which would probably be hard to see with it in the van. There is alot of verbage to fish through on both labels.

Like Big John said, measure the intake. Either that or just take a look where the distributor bolts into the block. On a 302, there is almost no block above the dist mounting pad. On a 351, there is about an inch or so of verticle block showing under the intake manifold.
