i have just recently aquired a 94 ranger,2.3,5spd for a steal 300.00 bucks :icon_cheers: and was looking into doing the 8.8 rearend since the rearend is out what mods would i have to do to make it fit or is it a direct fit with my drive shaft from the 2.3 any help would be appreciated cant really search because im at work right now :icon_thumby:
also its a single cab wanting to put a bigger rearend because when the motor goes its getting the 5.0!

well from what I've read in the tech library... it will bolt up because it's a 90+ ranger. I don't know this for a fact however.
 
Yes, '93-'09 Ranger 8.8s should bolt right in no problem.
 
Itll bolt in just as long as you get the ubolts and plates that come with the 8.8, and youll be good to go
 
and weld on spring pads and shock mounts, but yes it will bolt up

on my '89 chassis the yoke on my shaft is different than the 8.8, but I took the yoke from the explorer drive shaft, the U joint is the same...
 
Sounds like he is using a ranger 8.8, no welding required.
 
that would definitely make things easier...
