i want to do a v8 swap on my 89 b2 4x4, but i need to know what transmission and engine, and transfer case set up i need to use. any help will be greatly appreciated thanks!

not to discourage you but you need to think about why you want a v8 swap

i want to do a swap because the 2.9 just bit the dust with 300,000 miles on it and im doing a restoration on it! plus i don't believe any ford deserves anything less than a v8. i already hav the 5.0, and straight axles also it will stay automatic.

have you thought of a 4.0L? big big big big upgrade over the 2.9

are you going carb or EFI?

over drive or direct drive?

if doing a restore then why an SAS?

efi and i like the od, ive already got one with a 4.0, the motor i picked up is a 5.0 efi from a 92 bronco. but i had a manual trans and no t case!

im restoring it cause its worn out but also it has 35s going on it with the 6 inch lift and 3 inch body

for that engine you will want an E4OD (thats the auto in the 92 bronco) or an AOD. you can use the stock RBV T-case but I wouldn't. I would look for a 205 or a model 20, you can use the 13-56 from a F-150/Bronco but you will have to clearance the frame

I have an AOD trans in mine transfer case out of a 150 but I had to notch the frame IMO dont even consider the 4.0 its just a glorified 2.9 not to mention my 2.9 bronco would outrun my 4.0 explorer any day of the week
