Hi

Just bought a 89 eddie bauer last night and noticed the clutch doesn't grab until right at the end, I mean it grabs fine but is there a way to adjust it so it grabs right of the firewall?
Or is it that my clutch is shot???

Thanks guys, and great to be apart of the TRS group. I also own a 03 COBRA with 568rwhp too!

Clutch is hydrualic...

So...no, you cannot adjust it.

Also, the position of the pedal has nothing to do with the life of the clutch in this situation.

so is this a normal thing then? Does a stock clutch always grab near the end of it's travel?

It's not where it "Grabs" that should concern you.

what should concern you is where it releases.

Think of it this way... if it releases with a relatively short pedal
stroke you can safely assume that the hydraulics are healthy
and the system is free of air.

that old "clutch grabbing right off the floor" is a cultural hangover
from old mechanical pushrod actuated clutches, where periodic adjustment
was required.

And when you ran out of adjustment and the clutch grabbed up high
it was time to replace it.

i just got my 89 a few days ago and has the same thing happening, i was told by an instructor at school that it is probably being caused by a worn clutch plate (friction disk)
but i may just pull it appart and see..... depending on my motovation level this weekend.

Your wasting your time. If it doesn't slip, leave it.
