Explorer Automatic Crappy Hubs

1991 Ford Explorer, Automatic hubs don't work. Manual change kits with hubs are little spendy. Somebody know which make and year hubs can be used from junk yard, and witch conversion to kit to buy?

I have read most of them articles, they are writen with many assumptions. some say kits and some don't.

Does 91 Explorer have a 35?
Some say kit needed some don't...
Which year and modle of Jeep hubs work (with/without kit)

if there is hubs that can be got that don't require a Kit, why the hell they make ones that do need a kit ROFL

Yes the 91 explorer has a 35. this link should explain the jeep hub comment http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/May04/offroad.htm

The kit that is referred to relates to the wheel bearing locknuts as the auto hubs use a different arrangement that is incompatable with the manual hubs. there is a part number somewhere on the site that gets the locknut set for a much cheaper price than if you buy tham as a conversion kit.

Hope that clarifies things a little.

Let me start by saying thank you for your time on this.

I have read that article, It gives the p/n but does not list the year/model of jeep to ask for if getting the hubs at a wrecking yard.

Plus any help on the bearing to purchase would help.

There is no year and model for the jeep hubs. they are part of an aftermarket conversion for the jeep rear axles so that people can flat tow them behind their winterbagels.

OH! , I was under the impression that they were just normal front hubs off a the Stock jeep SUV that has similar front ends from Dana,

so, this aftermarket conversion for a Jeep happens to work for this ford problems as well, correct?
