Is it possible to use the bulb holders from the older trucks?

So the bulbs won't come out of the holders? Are you sure they're not just stuck in there? I've had that happen with older bulbs, they heat up the plastic and stick to it.

If the bulb doesnt come out go to a junkyark and pull twice as many as you need. A you-pull-it yard will probably charge under a dollar each.
Bring an old one to make sure it's the same.

The bulbs are #74 or #84. I can't remember exactly. And yes, they are replaceable. Ford is trying to sell you the bulb WITH bulb holder. They do the same thing for the 03 and older clusters too.

For what it's worth, I believe the idiot lights on 03 and older clusters use the same bulb and same bulb holder as the 04+ gauges use for their illumination lighting.

I did finely get them apart and there a pain and trying not to break them.
its seems crazy that Napa and sylvania bulbs don't have a listing for the instrument panel.

BTW. I just notes that this should have been posted in the lighting section, sorry

I think it's just fine in an interior thread. Lighting ususally would mean exterior stuff right? lol...idk.

Glad you got it figured out. They are kind of a pain, but the bulbs are tough just like 194's. Can take quite a bit of pressure before finally breaking.

I have a million of those in my tool box. Everytime I go to the JY i grab a few. One set I grabbed had a blue cover over the bulbs and I though alright blue lights but when I hooked it up to 12v the it wasnt blue, looked just like a nornal bulb.....I was like whats the point of that then? Guess I'll just live with green for now.
