I'm not sure if these bolts go to bolt the transmission to the block or if they are used for the air pump/alternator brackets (or something else) . . . any idea? I've got pretty much everything else back together but these bolts seem designed for a specific purpose . . .

Here is a pic of the bracket that I think they are part of - does anyone know if washers go into the cut outs on the bracket? There are cut outs on both sides but I'm not sure why they would design them like that . . . I pulled the engine out about 5 years ago and I know I took pictures but I have no idea where they are these days.

Thanks - kirk

A bigger pic would be helpful as would scale. off the top of my head I'd say that they look like braket bolts more than bell bolts. bell bolts usually all have shoulders, are all identical except for the top two which are half an inch shorter, and that shortest one looks like an adjustment holder, like the ones on the alternator or PSP that hold it in place once you tension the belt. That really long one looks like the one from my dad's truck's AIR pump braket.

I can definitely see those 4 in the middle being alternator braket bolts.

Thanks for the reply - Yeah, that air pump bracket (I posted a picture of it) is kind of a head scratcher for me. Not sure if I need washers in the cutouts of if the cut outs are there to fit around the area where it bolts to the block. I think the two short bolts might be used where the bracket bolts to the exhaust manifold (the non threaded part seems to fit just about right in the bracket sleeve) - but then I thought maybe they were the two short bolts at the top of the transmission . . .
