87 2.9 headers?

who sells 87 2.9 headers? all the ones ive seen are for the 89-92 2.9 whats the difference? and what woud be good pipe diameter after the headers? 2.25 or 2.50. and what is the stock piping? and can i get away with running no cats or electronic dumps?

I would imagine the headers would be the same for all 2.9s...I'm not sure if there's a difference. As for pipe diameter, if your doing true duals, I would go 2.25. If your running headers into a y-pipe, then a single 2.50 pipe is good. I think the stock piping is either 2.25 or 2 inch, somewere round there. And you can get away with running no cats, depending on your local emissions laws, but it is illegal to do so....and electronic dumps? I'm guessing you mean the electric butterfly cutouts? They would be good for when you would want to be loud, but I wouldn't waste your money. But really, headers on a 2.9 wouldnt do anything powerwise, unless you have internal work done, I wouldnt bother. the stock manifolds flow just fine for a stock block. Hope this helps.:icon_thumby:
 
yeah i mean the only thing is that it wont be a stock block for long. i do not plan on doing the 4.0 or 5.0. ive seen these motors have up to 180 sometimes 190 hp and that is my ultimate goal. thanx again.
 
what kind of hedders did u find? i found pacesetters that only fit 88-90 or some crap like that, cant find any that fit my 92 2.9 and i was thinkin of the same set up, hedders to a rigged y-pipe into true duals with no muffs
