driving without front diff

Hi I am wanting to put 4.10 gears in the front diff on my 94 with a dana 35. The thing is I need my truck everyday to go to work. So I was wondering if it is okay to drive the truck with out the front diff/center section or will that compromise the structural integrity of the axle and bend/break something?
 
I have heard that the diff is a structural part of the beam, I could be mistaken though. I wouldn't do it.
 
i agree, i wouldnt risk that unless you dont mind replacing your dana 35....i'd wait for a day off or find a loner car....or get a bicycle.
 
A few people have done it. Just don't jump your truck or nail potholes left and right and it'll probably be fine.
 
I mean all i need is to drive 4 miles to work on highway mostly. If I avoid bumps, potholes and slow down do you think I would be okay?

No diff means no axles
which means there is a large hole for dirt and water to get in the backside of the spindles.
Grease will run out.
 
Right on fellas i think im gonna go for it and just not hit any bumps if possible lol and as for plugging up the spindles ill rig somethin up to stop the crud from getting into the spindles.
 
I drove mine around all summer without it freeway and off road very minor off road but it help up just fine
 
ya i took my front diff out an i have to drive around without it so i hope it holds up. my buddy has a ranger an he took the front end out an has driven around all summer without it an even wheels the truck an its all holding up so it should last.
 
Why would you wanna tear down the front end and put it back together, just to turn around and do it again...?:icon_confused:

If I was you, I'd find another chunk, get your gears set-up in it, and have it ready to go. Swap em out and only do the job once.

That's what I did when I blew the spiders in my old D35. AllanD hooked me up with another chunk at a pretty reasonable price.

Well basically I really dont wanna spend any unnecessary money on this truck, plus this chunk has new seals. But really either way I have to take the front end out so its actually not anymore work.
