Mystery Leak Under Dash Area???

Ive seen this twice on two different 1st gen rangers and cant seem to find the cause. I often find after it has rained a small puddle under the drivers side dash area. A buddy of mine had a truck do the same. Window seals are good and has orginal windshield. Thinking it may be coming in through the crowl and going behind the dash. Anyone else ever have this problem??

Mine does it and so does my dads. Ours the leak are coming from this area.......

As you can see I put some silicone on it and it has worked, just need to do it to the drivers side. Underneath the silicone on my dads and mine is a crack. This is what rotted out our floor boards and made us replace them.

So its the little bity spot where the fender, windshield frame, and cowl all meet? :icon_confused:

Damn you'da thunk it. Thanks Ill throw some on there if it ever stops raining long enough to get it dry :annoyed:

My '88 leaked some; took off the windshield trim.
Got some good quality windshield sealer and filled the channel with it.
Replaced the trim, cleaned up (pin in the @ss) be prepared for the clean up.
didn't leak up to the time i sold it four years later.

As you can see in my picture the windsheild did have sealer put on it but that didnt fix it, wasnt done by me, and still dodnt fix it. I think its a common Gen 1 ranger problem. almost every ranger I've torn into has had a leak like this.

Mine is doing the same thing on both sides. It leaks down the A frame post and into the cab. I read where this could also be coming from an area at the top of the A post where it meets the roof. My '84 has two very small openings between the post and the roof gutter. When I park it "downhill" it seems to get a small amount of water in it. Parked uphill, no problem. This has led me to conclude mine is leaking at the upper post area. I plan to seal it and park it downhill to see if my experiment in fact proves correct.
