2002 Ranger sport radio -- Can I go with a double DIN?

I'm hearing mixed feedback on whether I can use a double DIN system. The kit I ordered on Ebay has a split face plate, but looks awfully flimsy.

I need to install a new Sony MEX-1GP radio, and a single DIN cb-radio in the other slot (the CB has a forward moutned speaker).

thanks for any feedback..
 
There is JUST barely enough room, but yes a double DIN setup can be used in a mazda/ranger. I'll grab some pics when I get a chance.

I will try to remember to take pictures of my truck. I had a single din radio and the single din Cobra CB installed. Looks great!
 
Very cool, I was just about to post up asking about this. I picked up an 02 Ranger last night and picked up a Pioneer Avic-F700bt for it.

My AVIC-F700BT is getting installed tomorrow night. I'll post some pics up of it.

Looks awesome. I too am wondering how everything got mounted up tho, did you guys have to modify the bracket that holds the radio for the cb to fit? Is everything solid?
 
CD and Single DIN looks sharp! I'll bite! How did you make this happen? A write up would be great!
