Hey folks,

I got new PS lines tonight and am going to install them this weekend (on my '94 w/ 4.0). I got to reading the box while I was waiting for my wife's oil to drain (that is, her VAN, not HER).

Anyway, the new lines come with a cap to fit onto the back of the pump reservoir where the return line connects. The idea is you connect the new hoses up, but leave the return hose off the back of the reservoir and plug it instead. Then, you run the pump while holding that loose end of the return hose over a drain pan, and keep adding in fresh fluid unti the stuff coming out the return hose is nice and clean. Then connect the return hose to the reservoir, make sure everything is still well bled, and you're good to go.

Hadn't heard of that method before - anyone ever tried it? What do y'all think?

Thanks!

I'll bet the pump can pump it out faster than you can pour new stuff in.

I meant something along the lines of popping the fuel inertia switch so the engine won't start, then just use the starter motor (via holding the key in start) to cycle the pump. I'm sure you could turn it by hand too though.
