Will a M50D from a truck with a 4.0 bolt up to a 3.0? Also are there differences between the explorer M50D and Ranger M50D?

4.0 trans will not bolt to 3.0 motor. I believe the Ranger and Ex M5OD are the same.

3.0 is a seperate bell housing as is the 2.3.

An explorer M5OD for a OHV 4.0 is the same as a M5oD meant for a Ranger OHV 4.0. There is slight differences in the SOHC 4.0 version, but it's like an extra bolt hole or something.

Please rephrase that as "different bellhousing"

Saying "Seperate bellhousing" is misleading in a discussion
about an M5OD-R1

While there is no difference between an "Explorer Mazda" and a "Ranger Mazda" there are differences between a 3.0 Mazda and a 4.0 Mazda.

and it's more than the bellhousing pattern.

The 4.0 version of the transmission is geared differently
