Got my fuel-tank out and started cleaning out the frame to paint it a few days ago, and found a nice little mess.
Somehow a good chunk of debris (mud, leaves, etc.) got up in the frame, nice and wet, and sit there long enough to rust away part of the bracket for the rear crossmember. Really, it's only about 1" around where the lower rivet (the one it shared with the front spring hanger) is, but it's pretty weak and definitely all rusted through, but the frame is still good after some wirebrush.
I was just going to grab some 3/16" plate steel and beef up the bracket a little bit, does anyone have any advice? I have some ideas about putting in a off-the-shelf bracket and removing the old one, but is it worth it? I'll get pictures once it stops raining and I get the rest of the dirt out.
