has anyone swaped a 5.0 out off the explorers in to a 1990 1992 ranger? i would like to do a swap and like to know what i need as in elec. and drivetrain? thanks

Ditch the electronics and treat it just like the common Mustang conversion/swap. You get the better intake and front dress.

well doesnt the 5.0 wiring harness plug into the 2.9 wiring harness?

You'll just have to do some searching on the Ranger sites and narrow down you questions a little.

The wiring will take a little work, but it's not too tricky. You will only need to touch the engine harness, not the rest of the truck.

To a certain degree if you keep the years between donar and recipiant somewhat close.

well in the tech libary under the v8's the 5.0 fuel injector wire harness should plug into the 2.9 wire harness or was i wrong.

The Explorer will have ONE 42 pin main connector. (same connector as '95 and newer trucks, not sure about older trucks) This may or may not have pins that match an existing truck. You'll want wiring diagrams to compare. I'll assume there are other power and ground wires, as in the Mustang harnesses, other than the main connector.

As an Example, Mustang harnesses had numerous different plug setups, usually two in the engine bay, one near the ECU, and they differed in colors and pin locations. So there are more variable involved than just "plugging it in".

So, an EVTM for your donor year, and an EVTM for your Ranger, as well as a Harwood manual for your Ranger's year, and that will get you going in the right direction.
