As per a fist-full of other threads/questions.

4R70W trans is needed.

Things that use this transmission are:
2wd rustangs and all explorers, Correct?

I have not seen a SINGLE 2WD v-8 explorer in person, or online, ever, maybe its just because I'm in the midwest so its very very rare?

Any way to take a 4WD trans and change just the snout on it to a 2WD one?

95-96 F150's and Bronco's also ran this trans, if the trans pan is shaped like an "L", then its an E4OD, not a 4R70W, but both of these transmissions were in these trucks as well

I have a close friend who has a 99 5.0 Mountaineer in 2WD. So they do exist. We're in south Louisiana

I figured as much, I live essentially on the boarder of Chicago, so the general populace at the time of them being new could afford/needed awd/4X4 out there.

Still lots of the 3.8 Mustangs out there that would work and bolt up.
