If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I need the down and dirty on the 8.8 used in a 97 F-150. My blew the spider gears in his and we need the easiest way to fix it besides swaping in a 9". I am trying to convince him thats the best way to go but they are dead set on using an identical axle to the one thats in it. So I need the down and dirty on it as we can not find one here locally. will adding a locker do away with the spider gears? can a locker be added with out doing the gear set up? can the center chunk be replaced with out doing a gear set up? how similar are they to the ranger 8.8? can the F-150 8.8 center be replaced with a center from a ranger?

As long as it is an 8.8 anything that has to do with that axle will work. You could even look for the carrier out of a mustang with an 8.8. You want a 86 to new model mustang with the 5.0 or the 4.6.

if you replace the whole carrier check run out and set backlash(use the ring gear that is in the truck).that should be it.also replace the crosshaft lock bolt, they are cheap and its good insurance.

can be set up without removing carrier. Other companies offer similar items. i dont think any are made for limited slip diffs. Alot of people here on TRS use Lock-Right, but my buddy put an aussie in his grand cherokee and it worked great...real quite and had no complaints.

Throw a lock-right or no-slip back there. Don't have to remove the carrier.

be sure to check spline count before buying one though.

I'm pretty sure f150s were 31 splines...
