While online I went to "fat bobs garage" And was checking out what was available for my truck.

In the way of lifts, there was a 2" fron leveling spring spacer with also an add a leaf...creating a 100$ lift kit. Is there anything bad about lifting a truck in this way?

Then I got to thinking...probably a bad thing! haha. Anyway, WHAT IF?? I was to buy that 2" coil spacer and add a leaf kit. Then combine it with longerleveling coils and a 1.5" shackle in the rear...giving me something around a 3-4" lift...would this work?

Or would I need new shocks?

I am completely new to lifting and I am very sorry if my questions seem rather stupid. But I know that I can get some real good information from you guys so I really appreciate it!

Thank You!!

You could do the spacer lift and add a leaf. You will need a wheel alignment done afterward, and will need camber/caster bushings to correct the positive camber that the spacers will cause.

You cannot go much higher than 2" of lift with the stock bracketry on the front suspension. It will not be alienable or drive able. You would also require longer shocks, brake lines and pitman arm for the steering.

Are alignments difficult to do yourself? or would I need to take it to Schwab or some other shop?

Your questions would only be stupid if you planned to raise your truck and never take it off the road, but it can be handy for coming up behind some idiot in the fast lane, going 55, and here in Socal there are millions of them, and encourage them to move.
I'm sure most of them can do it without even putting down the phone.
Just my .01805 after L.A. takes their .00195

Why not get a 4" Lift Kit and get it over with.
At least that way you will know all of the parts work together and are safe.

Piecing a lift together can be dangerous, if you use pieces use parts that have been used before.
