hello everyone,
My nehbore has a 1988 ranger that he was wanting to turbocharge instead of swapping out for a t bird coupe motor and has most everything together,The turbo is a donor turbo from a dodge daytona I believe it was a tdo4 and the thing is oil and water cooled,I'm wondering where would be the best spot to tap the water lines because I was considering eather heater hose or somthing of that nature,Also what would be an ideal fuel setup for cheap ie,. no megasquirt or port fuelers I have a 12-1 fmu from my turbo talon I was gonna donate to him but I;m pretty sure that will be overkill fuel wise so what would you recomond for fuel delivery? Also last do we need to worry about fuel cut and how is the maf sensor/ecu gonna feel with absolute manifold pressure?please let me know what you think would be wise.I'm new to the forums and rangers I'm joel btw nice to meet anyone.

Don't skimp on fuel. Megasquirt IS cheap!

Also last do we need to worry about fuel cut

Why would you want to burn fuel going downhill, off throttle? That's just a waste of gas!

I tried pressurizing the MAF sensor several months into my project, but it didn't work. (Long and very sad story!) I recall that someone makes a MAF set-up that can works under pressure, but it wasn't cheap, nor was it calibrated for the size injectors I'm using.

If you try to "go cheap" on a boost project, you'll end up spending more money in the long run. I know this from experience. If you want to have a reliable project, you'll have to do the job right from the outset.

Thank you for fast reply,i'm curious as if a z32 maf sensor would work in place from a 300xz tt?Unlikely but maybe someone knows. As for megasqurt the guy is so cheap and I mean cheap when it comes to cars I doubt he will go that route especially since he cant read very well and hes one of those older hot rod guys that hate electronics so im looking for a simple solution for him,Somthing like 255lph walbro/fmu/larger injectors so please let me know what would be a good salution for a "very cheap" setup.I would take the megasquirt route if it was my truck anupaaum but its not and he wants it done cheap so if he does pop the ring land or somthing maybe then I can talk him into swapping out the motor for a t bird one.I did bring to his attention to purchase a wideband coupled by EGT and fuel pressure guage but I didnt tell him the price yet lol. Thanks again.
