intake Dead line? Vacuum line?

hey guys... 1998 3.0 4X4 between the MAF and the motor there is some kind of a line that doesn't go to anything. any ideas? maybe a vaccum line? I cant figure out where it goes. any ideas? could someone look at theirs and let me know. thanks
 
On mine, there is a 3/8 hose that goes straight to a valve cover cap so the engine combusts all blowby.
 
In the hose between the MAF and the throttle body there is a nipple for a 3/8 line. On it is a 3" piece of 3/8 hose that makes a beeline straight to where oil is added to the engine.
 
is it to the left or behind the oil fill about 3 inches on the valve cover?

MAF should not go to the valve cover.
 
so where does this line go then?
 
Let me try to explain one more time.


The filler neck on the passenger side valve cover has a 3/8" nipple on it just below the threads for the filler cap. On my 98 there's a hose attached that ends up on the other end at a 3/8" nipple on the long intake pipe between the MAF and the TB.
 
o hgotcha... thanks. it was cunfusing me because it looks like another hose attatches to it. at least i know where it goes now. thanks again.

That hose goes to the crankcase vent. The vent is on the left hand side valve cover right next to the oil cap. There should be a plastic fitting sticking out of the valve cover (if its still there) that is supposed to connect to the hose.
