how to determine is locker is good before installing thrid member?

i just bought a d35 chunk with 5.13 gears and a detroit ez locker in it...is there any way i can tell and make sure the locker is functioning properly before i install everything?

yep....I assume the locker is installed in the carrier. Put the Carrier into a Bench Vise. Get a buddy to help, put the axels into the carrier. Hold one stationary and rotate the other slowley, one should turn without rotating the other axel. Now as you are still rotating it, quickly reverse direction with some force and it should lock together with the other axel.
