I wanted to try to figure out what tranny i have if anyone has any idea how i can figure this out. Please post.

I currently have a 2003 Ranger Edge, 4X2, 3.0 Vulcan, 8.8 Rear, 5 Speen Manual.

I no there is a couple of trannys they used. I would like to try to figure out what my Gear ratios are aswell as how to identify where the ford badge is located on the tranny. I had my tranny replaced under a warranty company and i want to ensure they used the currect tranny. Truck only had 60K miles when i needed to replace the tranny! Bad senqros. Please dont hate on me for my spelling.

Thank You

There is one and onloy one manual trans used on a 3.0 Vulcan engine
in a Rear wheel drive aplication and that is the Mazda Built M5OD-R1.

Nothing else fits.

The mazda has been in continuous production since 1988
(1991 on the 3.0 engine)

The tag is on the drivers side of the trans

But it won't really tell you much the "engineering number" you see on ford parts is NOT a part number, but it will usually tell you what version/revision of a part it is...

But ford completely changed their standardized (and easy to understand)
numbering system ~1998 and the new system makes no sense to anyone.
