Camber kit Question?

I was wondering where I would ask a question about camber alignment kits and what not. My front driverside wheel is cambered out alot and im getting uneven wear on it. The first time I took it in to the shop they couldn't align it to specs because i needed a camber kit of some sort that they could buy and put on for 280 plus the alignment to fix the problem. Is this true and can I buy it cheaper anywhere else?

It's really a shame so many alignment shops are out there to rip people off like that.
The "camber kit" is nothing more than a different bushing (goes around the upper balljoint stud) which they should normally be replacing anyway (they shouldn't be charging you a dime for it, they'd just simply trade it out with another one from their stock unless you wish to keep your old bushings for some reason).

What you may want to do however is purchase a set of the fully-adjustable two-piece camber/caster bushings such as the K8986 or Spicer 6122025 at Rockauto.com, then take it in to someplace that's GOOD and have them do an alignment on it (this generally does NOT include chain franchise shops like Midas or Sears... try an independent shop if you have one nearby).

With such bushings a full camber/caster/toe alignment shouldn't be more than around $120 or so.



Edit: Oops I see you have a '98... The camber kits for a '98 are even cheaper still, about $12-25 depending on which one you get. Check Rockauto.com for your year and then take it into a good shop.

Just another quick question is it a camber/caster bolt adjust kit?
 
I had to hit up about five shops before I found one that would even touch my truck. Thats bs that shop tried to rip you off.

I've got Ingalls 29000 cam bolts on my truck....they are made for Explorers and Rangers, both 4wd and 2wd versions. They provide for an additional 3 degrees of positive and 3 degrees of negative adjustment. $25 per pair. Order two pairs....there's two bolts in each box, so qualtity of 2. I say this becase the only reason I have them, is because my little brother put in a quantity of 4 because the site said sold individually.

Oh so i need to buy 2 for each side? and do you know If there expensive to get installed?
 
you need 2 bolts per side. 4 bolts total. The ones I showed and many others sell in sets of 2 bolts, so you'll need two- 2 bolt sets for 1 truck. Order a quantity of 2 to get 4 bolts. Does that make sense? lol.
