At one time, my collection was getting out of hand. Now I'm down to 3. 2 of them are Reticulated Pythons which are the longest snakes in the world..(Anacondas are girthier)

The Biggest Retic on record (not captive) is 33ft/300 lbs. Mine will never reach that (thankfully) but they still develope impressiveness. My male is my largest at 14 ft but males don't get as big as females so he is almost done growing.

My female Yellowhead will get bigger as she is only 9 months old and is already just over 8 ft.

Sweet. can they eat cats? if so I will send you one. LOL just kidding but I don't like this cat that roams around my house

There is no way I could lay down and go to sleep at night with one of those in the house. No matter what kind of cage. Put him in a fire proof safe? I'd still lay there listening for little noises till the sun came up.:icon_rofl:

I have a ball python and two leopard geckos. The geckos are both 9 and the snake just turned 8 a few months ago. Retics are beautiful (love their orange eyeballs!) but I'd never want to own one, too big! I'm actually painting one on a set of Harley tins, I'll have to put up pics when it's finsihed. It's wrapped around the whole bike and will look like it's crushing/constricting it if I can figure out how to paint the wrinkled metal parts correctly...

snakes kinda creep me out. ive only held one in my life when i was in SC a couple months ago and it was a small corn snake that was blind. that was a cool snake. i do have a turtle though

I read that and saw herpies.. woah..

XD

Anyway, we used to have a python, but it died.

You mean "herpes"....me too....lol!

Snakes are cool, but I would never trust to have any near that big around my house....they can and do get loose. You'd never get out of the grasp if it decided to kill you.

That sounds awesome!! I'd really like to see pics of that when its finished!

thats weird, i was watching gone in sixty seconds and the scene came on where they stole a humvee and a snake was in the cab lol

Any time there is a mishap with any snake including bites, (news worthy or not) It's ALWAYS the keepers fault. People underestimate enclosure security all the time. Nothing is every perfect, my set ups are fool proof (unless I'm the fool and forget to do something). The sliding glass has jewler locks and the enclosures themselves are locked in a climate controlled room in my fisnished basement.

Not that I never ever had a mishap. Thankfully never with my big male retic, but the female has gotten out after i misted her enclosure and didn't slide it shut all the way. I found her basking in the radiant heat from my ceramic heat emitters.

The only way to never get bit by the 80 razor sharp teeth that are angled towards the back of their throat (so you can't pull out) is to not have them.. or have your shi* together if you plan on owning one. I'll choose the later.. this world has enough rabbits.. and geese... and chickens

do you have any pics of the habitat you keep them in?

Yes, I understand about all the cage setup, latches etc....had a Ball-Head Python at school that we could take home on the weekends back when. It was quite fun, would crawl around inside my shirt over my shoulders. Scared the heck out of my cat when he saw it crawling around on my bedroom floor. :icon_surprised:
