I have had this truck for about a year with zero problems. ('01 Ranger xlt 4x4, 4.0L,auto) All of a sudden, the airbag light has activated even though nothing unusual has happened. There is no code on the OBD II, but the light begins to flash - 4 flashes, pause, 7 flashes, pause, repeat - and after a bit remains lit. I'm guessing this is a 47 error indication, but what does that mean? Is it something I can repair myself? :dunno: TIA

first welcome to TRS:icon_cheers:
check the bulb on the passenger airbag switch, my brother's truck had that one blown so it had the dash light on just like u describe it.Its not a bulb, its a LED, i replaced it with a normal 12v LED and works fine
hope it helps

Thanks for your quick reply, but it turns out my problem was simply a loose connection. I tracked down the "47" code (don't know why there was no OBD II code, though), and it indicated a fault in the passenger side wiring to the seat belt. I moved the seat forward and felt in back for the wiring to the connector. It was still connected, but could be snugged up a bit. That returned the airbag light to normal operation.

I'll keep your suggestion in mind. That'll probably be the problem next time.

Again, thanks! :icon_cheers:

Yes, that flashing sequence means a code 47. Many Ford dealerships will let you use their reference library.
