roller lifters?

This may be a stupid question, but I installed new rockers, new lifters and new heads on my 4.0 and when I installed the rockers I noticed a big gap between some of the rockers and the valves. So my queston is: will the roller lifters take up the slack and fill with oil when oil pressure is made?:icon_confused: any help would be great!!!
 
it sounds like you need new push rods the lifters are probably a different size, and no the oil pressure will not make up for the difference.

I see you have a 94 what all have you done to your motor, im interested in what all you have done to your motor
 
Ther should be a minute amount of gap between valves and rockers I thought. Its measured with a spark plug gapper, so when you say "a big gap" Im thinking you need some adjsutment or like he said new pushrods.
 
By gap I mean 1/8 of an inche, a little supprising after all this work. I was told that once oil pressure is biult up the lifters fill back up with oil. The engine only has like 90,xxx on it but has sat around for a while and the oil has leaked out of some of the lifters. :icon_confused:
 
The engine is pretty much stock... except for mild head porting and polishing, headers, and an intake. was going to put the 420 cam in it but I am running out of time as I am moving to LA in a week with engine still on the stand... So iam in a bit of a hurry...yikes. so a supercharger will take the cams place in the future. Maybe Ill do a write up on it.
 
i have never heard of lifters getting taller when the oil pressure builds up
 
hydrualic lifters... oil filled. I dont know, its just what I have heard.
 
learn something new but i think nad 1/8th of an inch is a little much
 
:icon_twisted:well I may have overexaggerated a bit on the 1/8 but it was a bigger gap than I was comfertable with.
 
can you tighten them anymore idk much about valve train
