So I ended up having to get one of those adapters that plug between the tail light harness for trailer lights. Now when my lights are on or I hit the brakes the rear turn signals on my truck don't work. The front and trailer lights flash fast like my bulb is out. When I don't have lights on or braking then they work.
What's going on?

Thats rather bizarre...
Maybe you accidentially picked up the wrong year adapter harness? or perhaps a mis-labeled one? Somewhere Rangers switched from 3 bulbs to 2, not sure if the connectors changed.
They're pretty much plug in and you're done. There's not alot to go wrong, or that you can make go wrong.
Hopefully someone might know whats going on, but that's my thoughts at least.

You would think so huh... just plug in and go. Obviously something is a-mis.

mine came with a separate ground wire that i had to attach to a frame ground (its a 90). maybe theres a problem there, or on another thought, how rusty is the ball on the hitch and the tounge on the trailer?

The package says 97-99 Ford Ranger and 98-2001 B Series. Is there something different between the Ranger and B in 2000?
I don't have time now, but when I get to AZ (hopefully thursday)... I'll just find a new plug. Unless I see one on my way from MO to AZ.

I think 97-99 Rangers used a triple bulb set up while 2000+ used a dual bulb set up in the tailights. COuld be the problem
