Is there an immediate/immenient danger to leaving the mechanical fuel pump in place after installing an electric fuel pump?

I don't have the time to remove the mechanical pump, which is in good condition, and make a cover right now.

Thanks
Jerry

Now that's a horse of a different color. Yes it can, the mechanical pump opens and closes, and actually moves fluid. If you have an electric pump not acting as a single pump then you need to regulate the electric one down. What kind of setup do you have and what's the problem, what are you trying to do?

I installed an electric fuel pump on a 2.8 engine (B2) and she's up an running good but I'm out of time to remove old mechanical fuel pump and install and new fuel line to carb. I need to make a 200 mile trip and was concerned if running both fuel pumps would hurt anything.

all you need is some extra fuel hose to do a temp. If it's running ok though i'd prolly try it.

...was able to get stock fp removed (whew) and block off plate installed. All is well now.

Thanks for your help.
