i have an 85 2.8 with what i believe is either a C3 or an A4ld in it, and an a4ld from a 90' 2.9 will the swap require any hardware swap?

A4ld

The 90 A4ld isnt going to work in your 85. The 90 is going to have an electronic torque convertor. You really only have a couple of years that is going to be compatible for an a4ld. I just went thru this with my 86 ranger. Best bet is to put a c-4 in it. A c-4 with a 2.8 bellhousing will go in there. Might need to change driveshaft though. Or you can always do a manual conversion. Check the tech section on here. Its awesome information for this sort of trouble.
