Hello, I Just Bought A New Motor From Atk--should A Pilot Bearing Slide In And Out

i JUST BOUGHT A NEW LONG BLOCK FROM ATK ENGINES. AND I WENT TO PUT THE PILOT BEARING IN AND USUALLY YOU HAVE TO HIT WITH A MALLET OR SOMETHING FLAT THATS WHAT IVE DONE BEFORE, WELL THIS NEW BLOCK THE BEARING JUST SLIDES IN AND OUT WITH YOUR FINGER. CAN SOME PLEASE TELL ME IF THATS WRONG. IF IM RIGHT IT SHOULDNT MOVE AT ALL I THINK-----PLEASE HELP
 
I have never seen one that was loose. I think I would try a different pilot bearing.

Is an incorrect bearing! Please don't try to use that one. It may be as bad as the crankshaft is worn and NO BEARING will fit in there...Be very careful.

yeah, thats not right. if you can take a measurement of the ID of your crankshaft and ill pull up a pilot bearing and compare measurements (also need to know what motor, its not listed in your profile)

On the 4.0, the pilot bearing is in the flywheel - sounds like you either have a wrong bearing, or the flywheel is hosed.

Is there a different pilot bearing for autos than manuals? Im thinking wrong bearing, maybe.
