K&N intake opinions...


this has got to be one of the biggest debated issues on here, i heard some people say its a waste of money cause it will suck in hot air and in hardcore offroading it doesn't filter as well as stock, but others say they got more horsepower out of it and are all for it, so basically its personal prefrence, me, i have yet to do it cause i have to make a custom one but i will eventuall get around to it
 
It works like a Turbonator.
 
they make your truck make kewl noises. and yes they suck hot air. the truck already comes with a cold air intake from the factory.
 
I just performed a search on here for "K&N." I want yall to know that some people up here can get a little violent on this subject. :shok:

All I know is that two of my friends use K&N on their diesel F250s. One is a 7.3L NA engine and the other is a 7.3L Turbo engine. Both of these trucks are used for farm and off road use along with daily driving, but most is off road. They both love the K&N filter and have had no problems with the filters like what has been said on some of these posts. But like I said I don't know much about these...I would like to see some extensive testing on the dirt/oil/dusting issues though. I will be interested as to how their engines are after a few years. Oh and thanks for replying. :D

Edit: They use factory intake w/K&N filter looking like OEM filter.

well i gotta tell ya, i got the k&n 77 series intake in my 07 4.0L 4x4, and it does make some cool noises and does increase your engines LCF (look cool factor) but i havent noticed any difference in power or gas mileage.
 
I have the K&N on my 3.0 and i feel like it has improved my low end slightly. just don't expect anything huge. I have a hard time agreeing that it draws hot air since it has a heat shield that sort of funnels down to where the stock system draws air.
 
I had a K&N set up on my 97 2.8 engine. I pulled out the stock stuff and put it in and noticed an improvement in excelleration and power instantly. Don't get me wrong. Was it massive? No, but it was A LOT better then factory.

K&N intake opinions...
 
Since I have never owned any other filter except that of the OEM, I do not judge anything until I have proof of its faults and benefits. But I will take heed to all warnings.:icon_thumby:
