I have an 87 Ranger with a 2.9 in it. I was just wondering if it is possible to use a single external fuel pump and do away with the in tank pump? Has anyone done this? Or what is the reason two are required? Does anyone know?
the reason there are 2 is because one is a high pressure and the other is low pressure.
i recon you could possibly delete the one in the tank, by removing it and puting a fuel grade rubber hose with a tank sock in its place. this worked on my freinds 92 camaro when we put an aftermarket external fuel pump on it.
the only thing i can think of that would be a problem is what you are goin to do with the wirein that run the internal pump.
yes ...it has been done. Thinking that later models of the bronco II only ran 1 pump???....in the tank.
not sure what is needed?? thought doing this myself, just haven't gotten that far yet....thinking that Alan has done it. perhaps he'll chime in & direct you down the right path
