for anyone swapping a 2.3T inplace of a 2.9L V6

I'm swapping a 2.3T from an 88TC into my 1990 ranger, reg cab, 2wd that had a 2.9L V6 / 5speed.

I tried finding any info about motor mounts, but didn't really get any answers anywhere. So I thought I would share what I did.

I left in the OEM V6 ranger motor mounts, which are the rubber mount with the stud that you put a nut on top. There is also a smaller stud that also goes into the motor mount bracket on the motor. That smaller stud had to be cut off, i just buzzed it off with an angle grinder, took me like 2 minutes. You then can use the motor mount brackets from the 88TC. I lined up the drivers side mount/bracket no problem, but the hole on the bracket for the passenger side was off. I was able to just use a 1/2" drill bit, and drilled a new hole in the bracket, the hole was a little closer towards the engine and closer towards the front, this allowed the bracket to then slide in properly on the stud from the factory V6 motor mount. I also used the angle grinder to flatten out around where i drilled the new hole, as there was a slight "bump" designed in the bracket. All together, took about 5 minutes worth of work, and i got it to work using all the existing hardware. Sure beats having to go to a junkyard and get brackets/mounts from a 2.3L ranger.

I took a few pictures, i can share if anyone wants them. I'll be making a complete build thread once it's done. Mounting the tranny tomorrow, then I'll be wiring.
 
My truck was a 3.0 and i just pulled some mounts from a 2.3 ranger from the juck yard and bolted them right in my truck. Then did the same to the block of the 2.3T.
 
sure, but my way, i save the trip to the junkyard, and i save the money spent on gas/buying the mounts.

I see what you mean but to me it was worth the 10$ for mounts.
 
The 2.3 in a Ranger uses brackets that "Hang" off the rear of the
engine crossmember.

They usually mount to exsisting holes.

on a 2wd mounts are easy to find in the junkyard.

The mounts that are supremely difficult to track down are
the '83-97 4x4 mount brackets which are different, the crossmember
is wider on the 4x4's

that is a helpful bit of info. that is the swap i am gathering parts for right now
