need shocks?

Would I need to get longer shocks if I am putting in 2 inch leveling coils?
 
Dude, you have asked this question before.....

You can get away without them, but it isn't a bad idea to get them. Then the shocks won't limit your suspension travel.
 
You could just use the shocks from Napa ($24 each) or even your regular shocks if they are still good, and get some 3/8 16 thread pitch couplers from True Value Hardware. The number was 2201-D. Weld in a stud 3/8 x 3 2776-L (short side in). Then thread the shock with a 3/8-16 thread pitch die all the way down to the nut (use a light oil, it's easy) and cut it off about 5/8 inch above the nut. Thread on the "extension" and you're ready to rock. The Monroe shocks at Napa use the same thread configuration as the O.E. Motorcraft shocks.

If you get regular Ranger shocks from Autozone, the Gabriels have the 3/8 x 20 thread pitch. You can buy extensions for them online for about 15 bucks. Just don't get the medium priced shocks for the Ranger. They are not the right size. They would probably fit a truck with a 4 or 6 inch lift though. I tried them and they were something like 24 inches fully extended. Autozone's premium ones are really beefy and stock length, but have 20 threads per inch. I went with the Napa shock on mine because i had already bought the hardware and made an extension, and so far i'm happy with them.

My '93 Ranger with 2" Rough Country lift coils needs about 16 1/2" shocks fully extended. After you put the coils in, measure your suspension fully extended. Depending upon your measurements, a similar setup should work out. If you put washers underneath too, you might need to leave a little more of the shock on.

I'm running them. Put them on about 4 months ago and they ride fine, a lot better than the original. But my friend bought truck and it was the original shocks, he said they are all busted and his truck doesn't ride that good.
