Just bought a 92 exploder. Took it out for a drive and there is no indication of a shift beween 3rd and overdrive. Can use shifter to shift and nothing happens at drive and overdrive. Rpms at 55 mph is about 2200-2300. Everything else shifts great. I have read that there is a shift silaniod that might be the problem but I thought that it would show up on the obd|| test. Or maybe somthing with the valve body. Just don't tell me I have to pull the crapmission.

do you have a switch to turn off the od? is your od light flashing?

No switch that is used on the later models. No flashing light. Thanks anyway

well i tired hopefully someone else will help you out

Check the passenger side floor for wet/dampness. Common problem of the wet floor can lead to the computer on the passenger side getting soaked.

A soaked and heavily corroded computer in my case was the reason my OD wasn't working.

I will check but do not recall seeing that it was wet. May have been long before i bought it. Thanks I will check.

nothing looks corroded any other thoughts

I drove my a4ld without a OD for close to 7 months before I put in another tranny. (The replacements OD didn't work either which is how I tracked it down to my eec-iv computer)

The fuel cost in those 7 months wasn't really all that much more. Running a 3k didn't seem to bother anything at highway speeds.

is the fuse blown? on my ranger the fuse that runs the overdrive also runs the reverse lights i have a short somewhere and it keeps blowing that fuse so i took it out now i dont have overdrive or reverse lights

Fuses all good guess ill drive it like i stole it. at least until it blows. thanks
